Welcome to the How to Money wrap-up for October. As we inch closer to Christmas (my favourite time of the year), it’s a good idea to start putting aside some cash each week (if you haven’t already) to make sure money doesn’t stress you out come Christmas time. I’ve personally created a separate Christmas savings account in my Up Money bank account, and am rounding up any spare change into it until the end of the year (it’s an awesome feature).

One of the best podcast episodes I listened to this month was by the My Millenial Money guys, who hosted Jody Fitzgerald from Morningstar to explain exactly what caused the Global Financial Crises (GFC). Jody does an excellent job of breaking down everything that happened, and I’d definitely recommend giving it a listen.
Another great free resource to check out is the Finimize daily brief which I discovered a few weeks ago. Their daily newsletter succinctly highlights 3 key stories for the day, so you know what’s happening in US/UK markets.
My friend and co-host Owen (Rask Finance) is holding investor events and workshops in Melbourne and Sydney in November, which I would highly recommend. There’s a great line up of investors presenting their favourite investment ideas, process and strategies. To find out more and book your tickets head to the event page!

On the Australian Finance Podcast, Owen and I spoke to Nicole Haddow, a Melbourne-based journalist. Buying her first home led Nicole to become passionate about helping people enter the property market. Nicole was the executive property writer for the Australian Financial Review and she documents alternative methods of purchasing your first home at smashedavocado.net.
We also answered a handful of great listener questions (which you can send our way at any time)! Available on Apple Podcasts, Castbox, Youtube and Spotify.
